This program was held at the meeting hall of Siliguri Terai Lions Blood Bank on 1st May"2018. Sri R. K. Goya!, Philanthropist & Social worker, inaugurated the program by lighting up the lamp. Lion Narendra Mitruka being the Master of Ceremony (MOC) conducted the program efficiently. Blood Bank Past Chairman Lion Mahesh Agarwal was called shared a brief history of the 'Temple of Service'. He said that the Blood Bank's foundation stone was laid down in 1993 and was commissioned and dedicated to the society on 30th April, 2005. He added that the Blood Bank completed 13 years of its journey and that the program was organised to celebrate the successful journey. In 2009 our Blood Bank acquired a modern, well equipped Blood Donor Van to collect the blood bags from various parts of North Bengal & Sikkim.
Blood Bank Co-Chairman Lion Atul Jhawar shared that blood donors are the back bone of the blood bank who contribute their precious blood to the needy patients without any self interest. He applauded the various organisations effort who came forward to hold the camps during last 13 years and that they motivated people to donate blood. About 80 major contributing organisations were recognised and [7:16 PM, 12/3/2020] Niladri Kar: honored at this event. He added that Terai Lions Blood Bank has been issuing about 2500 blood bags every month to the needy patients of North Bengal. These major organisations are consistently contributing to the cause and that we are greatful to them for their invaluable contribution.
Guest of Honor Sri R. K. Goyal addressed the gathering by complementing the efforts of the members of Lions Club of Siliguri Terai for doinggreat job round the clock i.e. 24x7. The temple of service is a landmark of entire North Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar & Nepal.
Chief Guest Sri Kamal Mittal also addressed the house and appreciated the selflesswork of the Blood Bank. District Governor, Dist. 322F Elect Lion Srawan Chowdhury expressed that he feels proud being a member of this Club and that the entire Lions fraternity praises the work done by Terai Blood Bank.
Blood Bank Chairman Lion Arun Periwal informed the guests that the dedicated team of doctors and technicians are always on their feet to help the society at their need. Previously, during several dengue crisis in Siliguri, the Terai Blood Bank could save many precious lives and that the Lion Members are truly content with the services rendered to the society. The Blood Bank has been providing whole blood, plasma and RBC by seperating the blood to three different components for the needy patients. Blood Bank Past Chairman Lion Nirmal Gidra informed that the Blood Bank will soon be rendering services to thellessemia patients and that an Aphresis Machine will be operational soon to provide sufficient units of platelets for needy patients. The program was attended by a galaxy of Lions dignitaries namely PDG Lion P C Maskara, PDG Lion A. B. Agarwal, PGD Lion P K Shah, PDG Lion K K Kalyani, PDG Lion Ashok Agarwal & POG Lion Kamal Kedia. Program Chairperson Lion Anil Goyal had all praises for his wonderful initiative in organising a successful event.
